1. how is it calculated for HUsngs? (should be simple enough but i havent been able to figure it out, which hands are involved in teh calculation, just the last one, all all in hands?)

2. how did i just play 2 HUSNGS where my EV won was more than the SNG paid out (an anomaly, its always been between 0% and 100% pay out prior to this or i havent noticed different)

and fwiw ive looked at the cash game all in EV explanation but dont know how it applies to HUs

1. Example:
$10 SNG. 2 players.
player 1 has 500 chips (opponent with 22)
player 2 has 1500 chips (=you with AA)
You go allin (preflop allin with AA vs 22 = 80% vs 20%)
So you have 80% to win $20.
And 20% to double up your opponent and end up with 1000 chips.
1000 chips = $10 equity.

So your "EV" is (80% * $20) + (20% * $10) = +$18

As a result if you win the hand your EV Diff will be -$2 (18-20)
If you lose the hand the EV Diff is +$18 (18-0)

The Luck Adjusted Winnings is the SUM of all the EV Diffs

2. The $EV Won can be confusing when it's negative and a larger number than the actual buyin, or positive and a larger number than the actual first price money.
You have some extreme situations (often in Double or Nothing and in SUPER TURBO SNGs)
Extreme examples:
$169 buyin SUPER TURBO, $Won = $720 (1th place)---> $EV Won = -$196 (a negative value, that is higher than the actual buyin)
$5.20 buyin DoN, $Won = $10---> $EV Won = $11.35 (more than you can actually win)
But allowing these values (outside of this range) will result in more accurate long term results.

thanks for the detailed explanation, gona take a while of rolling that around in my head to come up with a revised opinion of how "usefull" i find looking at it

is there any thought to weighting EV by equity by street? (as opposed to just when the last of stacks are moved all in?

hands like the above F up the EV of matches even though we are really all in on the flop flipping rather than me getting in behind on the turn nearly dead

obv i could have just raised the extra quarter but that may or may not affect calling ranges in some instances, itd be preferable to have HEM all in EV weight how the chips went in however i choose to play the hand

ill have to read that thread when im fully awake, looks interesting, thanks for linking

just a quick Q so i dont forget

what about allowing a user defined commitment threshold IE: IF "the all in streets wager represents less than x% of effective stacks at the start of the hand, the previous streets equity will be used when calculating AIEV" X could be a user defined % available in the options somewhere and set as 1% by default

Summary:
Whether we use AIEV or street-by-street EV, the long term results will be the same. Even when hands occur where you commit 99% of your stack with the best hand, and your final 1% -on a later street- when you don't have the best hand anymore.
So it really doesn't matter which method is used.

We use AIEV since it can (almost) always be calculated, when the allin hands results in a showdown, where 'street by street' in most hands can't be calculated when there is no showdown.
