View Full Version : Very slow online activation

I run my poker software in a virtual machine via VirtualBox. In the VM I have Win XP, and have noticed that online activation is painfully slow. Sometimes it fails 5 times in a row, and I give up. That happened last night, and I'm still unable to activate as I type this.
Is this a known bug? What can I do to use HEM again? I have PC #1 as my laptop and PC #2 as my VM on my desktop.
Thanks

How have you configured your VM network?
For me bridged works good but not NAT mode

Yes, I'm able to play poker and everything on my VM. The only thing that doesn't work is the online activation. After upgrading to the latest beta, it asked for my serial number again, I entered it and then after awhile it said I had to activate. So I tried that and I keep getting the below error. Please help as this has been 2 days of not being able to use HEM in a previously working environment.

I was talking only about the activation process in my VM. I get the same error in NAT network mode although everything else is working.
It works in bridged network mode but not in NAT.
Workaround:
So for the activation (every 15 days) i have to switch to bridged mode, start my vm, activate holdemmanager (in this mode it can't access the database on my server). Stop holdemmanager, shutdown the VM, switch to NAT mode and now i can play again.

Alright, I got you. Isn't there an easier way to use HEM in a VM? What exactly does it do that it needs bridged network mode?

The License process with the activation is a addon which is not developed by Holdemmanager. So its not so easy to change. I also had a discussion about this with Roy :)
Sorry, but for the moment this is the only workaround i know about.
