Hello,

I want to realize a fileserver with a ASUS EeeBox PC B202 (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=QUObl5lSRQQ3lSqJ).

And that's my idea how to improve my HM system:

Questions:

Is it possible to run the import of large amounts of datamined handhistories directly on the server? I have a license for 2 installations of HM (desktop + notebook), so there's no license left for my server. Does a standalone "HH-importer" exist or is it possible to use the trial for that purpose?
Which import speed can I expect of a system with Intel Atom 1.6 GHz, 2 GB RAM, probably slow HD?

The Server will consume 25 W under full load - that is just a fraction of the cunsumption of my desktop PC. I think it is +EV for my energy bill (and first of all our environment) even if the import speed of the server is 1/3 of the desktop PC.
The 2nd reason for trying to shift the import from desktop PC to a seperate server is the fact, that my desktop PC slows down too much while importing. I can hardly work in this time.

I'm curious about your opinions!

Interesting idea. Here are my thoughts:

- Import as standalone: this is not available. I have tried to import on one PC to a server database and play on another during the import and i experienced a lot of problems. The import had partially errors. The HUD lags and sometimes doesn't refresh the data. So i can't recommend a solution like this.
- import speed: i normally calculate with 20-30 hands/second on a standard PC with some million hands in the database. Your Eee will be much slower. Is the HDD big enough for millions of hands?

- You say you played _during_ an import. Was it possible to play with HUD (and import the HHs of the tables you are sitting on) without importing a big amount of HHs with a 2nd PC at the same time? And was it possible to import a big amount of HHs without errors with one PC without playing at the 2nd PC?
- Disk space will be no problem. :)

Yes, working with one of the PCs alone was no problem. To be precise: it were 2 virtual machines on the same physical computer with the database running on the host system.

For the database use over network: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=154
