Running Windows XP SP3 on an 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 4GB RAM, and 4 Seagate 320GB 7200.10 16MB cache HDDs (2 in RAID1), I'm achieving an Import From Folder rate of appx 20 hands/second.

1) Does this seem slow?

2) I have a second, presently unused dual-boot partition (also with XP OS) that's 60GB in size. Would I achieve a perceptible performance bump by moving the PostgreSQL 8.3.4 database onto this isolated boot partition, and leaving HEM where it is? Both would be on the same physical disk. Better yet, how about moving the database to one of my seperate library HDDs. This way one HDD (w/ OS + HEM) could import from another (w/out OS).

1) thats normal if you have lots of hands in your database

2) yes, it would increase performance a little bit. Best is to use a separate HDD
