Hello,

I am bad at computers. Tell me if I am going to do right things. My goal is to format my HDD and install new Windows. However I have a pretty large Database with tons of hands I don't want to lose. What should I do?

Should I just backup it and restore when I install PostgreSQL on new Windows?

Thank you.

How to re-install PostgreSQL and use a previous database. (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177)

If you use the HM notes you probably want to export those: Options > Notes > Export Notes, which will export them to the \Holdem Manager folder.

You will also want to backup your \config folder and files: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=98

In case anything goes wrong with SQL restoration process, you want to make sure you save a copy of your Archived/Processed hand histories, typically in C:\HMArchive.

I would also export my database to hand history text files, as a layer of redundancy and to make sure I don't miss/lose any hands. Options > Database Management > Connect > Export Hands.

I just backup my entire \Holdem Manager folder, then pick the necessary config and hand history files if/when necessary.
