I just purchased a laptop and want to move from my PC to my laptop. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this without having to rebuild all of my huds, notes, settings etc etc.

Should I just use the back-up feature? Would it be best to just set up a new d-base, reimport and then copy certain files to the laptop? Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

I just watched the backup and restore video and it looks like that answers most of my q's. However, it makes no mention of whether that process will bring along "notes" "rakeback" and "bonus" info or if I need to grab that seperately.

So I guess the q is what else do we need to grab from the original other than doing a backup?

You have several options:
1) Make a database backup (menu File - backup) and when you install HM and Postgres on another PC, do File - restore.
This way you will save not only database, but HM settings as well.
See his http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/418/Backup+%26+Restore

2) Keep PostgreSQL/8.x/data folder and when install Postgres - set it as existing database cluster when Postgres installer will ask you. This works only if you install the same Postgres version on a new PC as it was on old. And you have to run separate Postgres installer - not built-in HM setup file.
2a) Other option with Data folder see here http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/368/Move+Database+to+Another+Hard+Drive+or+Partition

3) Keep c:/hmarchive folder and import it's contents in a new database on new PC. If first 2 ways won't work.

But to be fully sure you don't lose anything, also do all this on old PC:
Export and Import your Hand Histories and/or backup and restore your database

Export any tourney summaries by selecting all your tournaments in the Data View Sub-Tab of the Tourney > Results Menu and choose Export Tourney Results and summaries

In other words. if option 1 works should that be all I have to do to capture EVERYTHING?

If option 1 will work, you will have everything: notes, RB, bonuses, even HUD configs

Just to follow up. I tried backup and restore but all it did was preserve my settings. None of the HH's came along so I had to start all over and reimport all of the hands manually.

That lead to other issues which I posted in a new thread, but should backup/restore have brought along the HH's? If I can't resolve the issues from the other thread I may try to do backup/restore once again.

Yes it should also save the handhistories.

Best thing to do:
use backup/restore in pgadminIII: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup%26RestoreDatabase
instead of the backup & restore utility.

This will also automatically backup the notes since those are stored in the database.

Also create an additional backup by exporting your notes.
And backup your bonus/rakeback settings by exporting them in HoldemManager.
