I updated PostgreSQL to the latest version when I got the new version of HEM. Now, HEM and postgresql don't see my old database when I try to import it.
I can't remember what I named it and don't have a backup, but I still have all the files on my computer (I assume they're in C:\Program Files (x86)\PostgreSQL\8.4\data, that folder is also close to a gig). Is there any way I can recover it?
When I use the pgADMIN III tool I can't see the HEM database file.

Reinstall PostgreSQL, and during the installation it should detect the old /data folder.
Try the manual SQL 8.4 installer from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org)
Run dbcontrolpanel.exe in the HoldemManager folder--> connect--> and it should list the old database.
If it's not listed, there was a corruption in the old database. Create a new database.

also i can't find a dbcontrolpanel.exe anywhere, and there was definitely no corruption in the old DB.

Yes. On which site did you play them?
Just reimport the handhistories + summaries from your archive folder, C:/HMArchive.
Or if you played on PokerStars, email them ask request all your handhistories + result files.
