What version of HEM are you using? You may want to try to update to the latest beta version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

If that doesnt help, can you please follow these instructions and let me know if it helps.

This is often a problem with either the firewall/antivirus etc so please follow the FAQ here: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34 and most likely them solutions wont work so then continue into FAQ 171 (http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171) and follow it exactly as skipping any step will proabably fail so make sure not to skip anything

Have you had a computer crash lately or not shut down the computer properly? This can cause the DB to become corrupt.

check Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Event viewer -> Apllications for PostgreSQL errors

You also should try to uninstall Zone alarm completely and reboot?

I use(d) the free, personal firewall from Comodo without any problems, and it is widely recommended. I have been to lazy to install it since my last reformat, so I have just been using the Windows Firewall. :o

I don't know ZA well, but in Comodo you either 'set exceptions' or 'add to safe programs list'.
