Hm is starting to really suck bad now. With windows 7 there is always an issue. Will I get the same problem with HM2 where I will have to suck out in the forums on how to make a defective software which is supposed to work...Work!!!

I've tried the Sticky for fixing this but the local host is already there.

Uninstall HM and postgre

Then re-install it.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely
Try installing PostgreSQL: Choose a Mirror (http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.2.21/win32/postgresql-8.2.21-1.zip) to port 5433

Read: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/91/Can%27tConnect%7B47%7DFailedToStartPostgreSQL , and http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/70/ReinstallPostgreSQL

tried re installing holdem manager and that works fine

when i try to re install postgress it get to near the end and cannot complete, telling me download incomplete...

dont have a clue what to do with that " choose a mirror " bizz
when i download that it just brings me up a load of scxripted text in notepad that i dont have a clue about.

when u mentioned its a firewal problem is there a way to get around it and still use the normal download option that is user frienddly

You'll have to use the manual installer.

Install SQL 8.2: PostgreSQL: Choose a Mirror (http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.2.21/win32/postgresql-8.2.21-1.zip) to port 5433
8.2 which ALWAYS run, unlike 8.3/8.4/9.0
