Hello,

I don't think HEM is properly calculating EV in the following spot. Villain #1 opens, Villain #2 shoves, Hero cold flats, Villain flats.

An example HH is pasted below.

Hold'em Manager Poker Software - Best Poker Tracking Software (http://www.holdemmanager.net)
NL Holdem $1(BB) Replayer Game#300714494

fckgreece ($20.90)

pa850 ($25)
siciliano198 ($22.59)

fckgreece posts (SB) $0.50
GlobalHuff posts (BB) $1
pa850 posts $1

Dealt to GlobalHuff Qd Qc
pa850 raises to $1.50
siciliano198 raises to $22.59 (AI)

GlobalHuff calls $21.59
pa850 calls $19.59
FLOP ($68.27) 7c 5d Th
GlobalHuff bets $1
pa850 raises to $2.41 (AI)
GlobalHuff calls $1.41
TURN ($73.09) 7c 5d Th 5h
RIVER ($73.09) 7c 5d Th 5h Ad
GlobalHuff shows Qd Qc
(Pre 45%, Flop 8.1%, Turn 4.8%)

pa850 shows Ah Ks
(Pre 38%, Flop 0.9%, Turn 0.0%)

siciliano198 shows Td Tc
(Pre 18%, Flop 91.0%, Turn 95.2%)

pa850 wins $4.58
siciliano198 wins $64.87

In this hand HEM tells me my allin EV $ diff was calculated at 8.80 which is clearly wrong. Maybe these is just an everleaf HH bug?

Hi,

This is a very popular question so we made an extensive video at this FAQ that explains all the EV scenarios and common questions and how they are calculated. Feel free to check it out http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/120/EV+Explained

specifically look for the section on how hm calculates multi way all in ev

Thanks

so you're saying that it is calculating it right? I watched the video, but it seems pretty clear that in this spot its calculating it wrong.

Read: http://forums.holdemmanager.com/manager-general/24059-ev-not-all-situations.html
Your hand is a unique situation, exactly what I write about in that thread.

The problem is lets suppose you go allin with 99 (instead of QQ). AK calls. TT calls.
AK/TT continue betting on the flop and the flop is AKx. And AK is able to make the TT fold.

When this happens the 99 vs AK EV is calculated on the flop and you'll have nearly no EV (despite the fact you were allin preflop in what now -after TT has folded- was essentially a preflop coinflip) Doing the calculation preflop is unfair since TT actually had the best hand. But when he folds, HoldemManager has no way of knowing that was the best hand.

In your hand, AK and TT actually do result in a showndown so it can be calculated, but it would lead to biased results if you only calculate it when you can, and ignore it when you can't. For this reason HoldemManager will never calculate the preflop EV for this situation (shortstack allin preflop, where the betting continues on the flop between two other players).
