Hi,

I just installed Windows 7 64bit on my desktop. Was using Vista before. All my old data was saved in a folder called windows.old.

Tried downloading postgresql 8.3 but during installation it asks me for a password. I tried all the usual default passwords and whatever others i might have used but nothing is working.

Do I need to completely erase postgresql from windows.old folder? Postgresql shouldnt be installed as its not on the list of programs under Control Panel.

Please help!

Thanks morny.

In your version I was given an option for the name of the user as well and when I used a different name than postgres, I was able to select a new password.

The one click install I downloaded from the official website didnt let me choose a username.
