Have searched the FAQs for moving to a new computer?

this FAQ is pretty close if you use new drive.
I'm not sure about what version SQL would have to do with it,if you switched versions? So I would probably stick with the version you have!

I would like to be able to give you good info on this, but I really CAN NOT.I do not know any thing about 7,and I dont work for HM was just trying to help. Are you sure you have SQL version 8.2 and not 8.3 ?

Yeah you need the newest version of PostgreSQL with Windows 7, you also need to run HM as admin or disable UAC for it to work.

Try this version of PostgreSQL http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.3.7/win32/postgresql-8.3.7-1.zip

Is there any advantage to having the newest SQL compared to 8.3 for an XP OS, just curious.

Theres not much difference but with all software its always beneificial to have the neweset versions since any problems in the last version are likely to be addressed. If 8.2 is running fine for you i wouldnt recommend changing though.

I'm updating my laptop to Windows 7 RC1 tonight, I'll be doing a PGAdmin backup and restore of my old HEM DB, I'll let you know if any issues crop up.

Id advise exporting the hands too http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=12 just in case something goes wrong with the restoring the backup

Also with Windows 7 youll need the newest version of PostgreSQL and need to ensure HM is run as admin or with UAC off

Even to get the latest (from your link) PostgreSQL installed, I had to Shift-Right Click and Run As... and enter my Admin/pass. (Even though I was logged in as this user already).

Do I have to upgrade my current xp laptop to 8.3 then transfer it over to my new computer?

Its not really neccessary if your using export/import option. If your using the backup/restore option ive heard it causes less issues if you backup and restore to the same version of PostgreSQL but you shouldnt have any problems and once you have the files exported these will import to any version
