View Full Version : A Connection to PostgreSQL could not be made.

Hello,
i bought HM a couple of months ago and never had any problems.
Yesterday i reinstalled PostgreSQL after i pulled the data-folder in a save place.
I installed PostgreSQL, including untick Initialise Database Cluster like it is described in the FAQ. When i started HM at this point, it was no Problem to connect to PostgrSQL and create a new database, but when i repulled the data-folder back to his right place, so that i could use my old database, i always get the error:
A Connection to PostgreSQL could not be made. Would you like to have Holdem Manager attempt to start the service?
But if if click yes, i just get another error and nothing happens.
I just dont know what to do now, my data-folder is almost 30GB big i do not really want to lose it.

Hello,

I have since 3/4 months still this problem and i tryed almost everything to solve the problem. I have a printscreen of my services, i hope you can help me!

That picture is far too small to read.

First try a simple reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If you have Vista, please verify that UAC is still off. - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73. If it is on, please turn it off and reboot.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, uninstall it completely before installing HM/SQL - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=171

I got a new error now, Error:1053

Could not stop the Windows service name service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
