Is there a way to check how big your database is?

I'm looking to share a database between two computers and am looking to buy an external hard drive, but I don't know what size capacity is ideal. I'm currently looking at one that is 250 GB, will that be enough?

Go to Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\Data and right click the data folder as this is the size of your database

My database is massive with who knows how many millions of hands in it, and it only takes up about 8 gigs or so if I remember correctly. 250GB will be more then enough to last the rest of your lifetime.

Well i dont know about the rest of your lifetime, if you trim your database once every month/quarter 250gb should be fine, id go with 500gb since usually the difference between 250 and 500 isnt alot

How is it possible? I installed HEM today and imported about 1kk hands. It takes up about 6gb on my hard drive. Is it possible to compact it?

I was looking at the size of the backup I made. My mistake. I guess when you back it up it compacts it some way.

Ive had my database since November. Its around 100GB, and is now extremely extremely slow.

I keep getting errors when I try to vacuum the database or by compacting it. Before I left for work today I set HEM to purge all of my hands older than 1 month. If that doesn't work, I'm just going to delete my entire database and start from scratch.

I have roughly 10million hands that the purge is working on.
