auto update failed

auto update for the new build couldn't write any files. SHur down HM2 and restarted and it still failed, shutdown machine and restarted and it failed again.

Also on a side note , each time it downloaded the update file each time. Could it be made so that updates are downloaded to an update folder, then when an update is detected , the update folder is checked to see if the update has already been downloaded. checksums could be used to check that the update file didn't get corruted during the download.

Were you a Alpha tester? We tested the current Auto Update really hard today before release. All with the full installer the public is using.

We had some issues during Alpha with Auto Update and right now I'm wondering if this is a holdover issue or something new. Please advise.

Yes I was in Alpha, also I switched off start HUD automatic and tried restarting HEM for update, same issue.

After closing all open tables and poker clients I got it to update fine.

no, i wasn't an alpha tester. Was playing poker and got a popup saying that a new update had been released do you want to install . clicked ok while i was still playing and then got lots of failed to write file mesages .

Was HM2 running when you started the update? Did it give a warning?

I think some of it installed as note caddy started working , which hadn't up to that point. Hud was running all through the first install.I didn't ntice a warning , but i honestly didn't read the install wizard to thoroughly , just clicked whatever option it was to install. As soon as it started running, i got the couldn't write file error messages. That was on a vista machine and i had UAC turned off. the next two times i tried it with HM2 it was launched from within HM2 but can't remember whether i shut HM2 down when the install wizard came up.

Haven't tried the new installer on that machine , will try it when i get home tonight. going to try it on my other pc at work today though if the default doesn't work.

got it to install on second pc.

note caddy started running creating notes which hadn't happened on the initial beta install.after about 28000 hands i doubled clicked on a note in the caddy report window. replayer started but it stalled note caddy . no new notes were creted. pressed stop and then it went to all hands processed waiting for new hands state. should have been another 180kl hands to process.tried resetting hands and now when i try to run note caddy itjust comes up with "gathering hands to import" but doesn't import any

For anyone that gets this issue:

Right click task bar, open task manager
Is holdemmanager.exe or hudfuncapps.exe running?

What files do you get warnings about?

What sites are you playing on while updating?

when i get home tonight would you prefer i tried repeating the update procedure that failed last night whilst playing tables. i was 10 tabling FR on stars last night.

is there any loggoing that you need enabling ( with instructions) if you want me to try this initially before i try the link that was PM'ed

Always test out things with just one table at first. Just go to the lowest limit and play one table to test it out.

First, I had problem as soon as I was clicking on "Download and install" (HM2 crashed and there was a message from HM2 telling me there was a problem).

I decided to do a video to show you what happen, but... weird... when I clicked "record", things were working correctly and I was able to download and install the update.

But now, I cant even open HM2 again! :(

tried to run HEM2 on the home computer and it couldnt connect to postgres. went through a wizard which restarted postgres and was playing one table on stars . HEM2 then continued to load . got the download and instal window , accepted it and 4771 downloaded and installed ok.

got the same error again last night more or less as soon as i started to play. SCreen went sluugish tables froze and the .net framework error message came up. couldn't do anything without pressing continue from which point i could play.

Realized after a bit though that the opponent stats on he hud weren't updating , but the last 3 pots were working.

last night it worked fine . Main difference being that i got on 1 table and started playing whereas the other nights i had got on quite a few tables before actually playing.

So I have been having the same problems. I tried updating with the regular auto-updater, and then I also just tried with the link in the post above this and still the same thing. I'm on 4771, trying to go to 4796.

Kill the holdemmanager.exe processes in task manager. hmhud.exe and holdemmanager.exe

If that doesn't work, reboot your PC and install from the link above.
