Ever wanted to test your websites in Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7. Well now you can! This tutorial will show you how to run IE6 and IE7 on the same PC at the same time!

Requirements for this tutorial:
Windows PC
IE6
IE7 Install File (Do not install)

Resources for this tutorial:
IE7 Standalone Tool
IE7 Installer

You should already have IE6 installed on your PC, so we can get straight into this tutorial.

First thing is downloading the IE7 installer and the IE7 standalone tool. Follow the links above to download them both to your desktop.

Extract the standalone download to your desktop, and you should have a folder containing 6 files.

Drag the IE7 installer right into that folder, so it now contains 7 files.

Now, in the folder locate IE7 Standalone Setup.bat and run it. Follow the instructions displayed.

Once finished, you can run IE6 and IE7. IE6 runs normal as it used to, but to run IE7 go to the folder and double click on IE7.bat

You should now be able to run IE6 and IE7 at the same time!

Why is it good to run IE6 and IE7 on the same computer?

Many web developers need to test websites on all major browsers. As IE7 has just come out, many users will be using IE7 and a lot still using IE6. This meant testing websites effectively was very hard, until this tutorial came along!
