Abbreviated Name stat - 2134

Is it gone or has it just moved somewhere that I can't find it? Wouldn't seem to make much sense to move it out of Misc stats, but it's not there. Only the full Name stat. Problem is, some player names are huge (like 15+ characters) and cause the HUD panel to stretch across the table and interfere with other stuff. I really need Abbreviated Name so as to keep the panel sizes reasonable.

It should be shortened to 6 letters.

I passed along the request. The 1.0 abb name is 4 letters. In 2.0, mine show 6, so it's not a lot longer.

Are you saying you already have the Abbr. Name stat in 2.0? Because all I see is Name, and the HUD shows the whole thing no matter how long it is.

Okay, that fixed it. You might want to relabel that option for non-decimal stats -- it's not at all intuitive to set decimals for integer or text stats, let alone that 2 decimals equals abbreviate Name to 6 characters.

It they're using 2 decimals to mean 6 characters, I'd think it logical to use 1 decimal for 3 characters? Have you guys tried to see if 1 decimal actually does anything? Again, not that I think it should be labeled as "decimals" but....

For what you want 3 symbols? What if simply hower mouse to get popup - player name is there.

Seating Preferences is not always reliable especially when you have just sat down (and sites like PKR are terrible for it) not everyone uses 'hover for popups' some people use click. I can't afford the time to click a popup then close it just to make sure the player stats are for who I thought they were.

Space everyone loves more space 3 is better than 6 in that regard.

It seems I'm not the only one either.

Yes, definite option for only 3 characters in abbv. name. A option to have 2 or 3 would even be better.
As previous poster wrote, space is important and for certain sites we need the names.
HM1 had the option for 3 char. abbv. name!!!!!! That is important to me.

Instead of setting fixed limits like 3 or 6, why not replace the "Decimals" dropdown on this stat with an integer edit box that accepts any integer value? Then people can tune it to exactly what they want? It would be no more work, as I'm sure you're just getting a substring now of the hardcoded lengths. Instead you'd just substring the first X characters as specified by the user. This is one of those easy changes that gives the user the most control without any extra work on your part, and goes a long way towards improving the flexibility and user-friendliness of the product.
