Saving HH to external Harddisk

hi,

I have bought a new laptop and i want to install Holdem Manager on my new laptop but save the hand histories to external harddisk.

Can anyone teach me the process of doing it?

Which handhistories do you want to save on the external HDD?
- the ones written from the pokersites.
- the imported ones which HM moves to an archive for backup reasons
or do you mean the whole postgresql database with all imported hands, stats, players,....

I mean the whole postgresql database with all imported hands, stats, players,....

So whenever i use HM, i will need the external hd connected to my laptop.

Either just install PostgreSQL to C:/
Then read: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/368/MoveDatabaseToAnotherHardDriveOrPartition
(and edit the registry so it will use the external harddisk instead for the /data folder)

Just a general question:
Does postgresql contain the same handhistories as the archive folder does?

Not really. The PostgreSQL database consists of about 100 indexes and 500 tables.

(each contain different stats, your holecards, list of players, preflop actions, etc. etc.)

One of the indexes does contain the handhistories, but you need access to the entire database to view/export them. So you should also backup the original handhistory files from the archive folder.
