    Default DB error after upgrade

I installed the 1.12.10b update. Now when I start HM I get a message on screen telling me the update will run and change the db structure. After running for a while I get another message saying the process has timed out. The db then appears on screen for just a second and then closes. This happens every time I try to start HM now. I am running HM1 on a Win7 x64 pc.

The update runs a database update which may need more than 10 minutes if your database is large or your computer slow. Just let it run overnight and make sure to have enough free space on your HDD.

If you can't get past that error you may need to create a new database and import your original hands to rebuild your database.

    Manually run the \rvg software\holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe > connect > create new database

    *Now import your \HMArchive - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...6+Export+Hands

All original hands that are auto-imported get moved to an archive for performance reasons. Your \HMArchive is likely not in your \Holdem Manager directory. We normally suggest you use C:\HMArchive, but you may have put it anywhere. The archive should be organized by \Month\DayOfMonth (example: D:\HMArchive\2009\07\31).

If you need to access your database to export any hands that aren't in your archive, player notes, bonuses and rakeback, or your tournament results, you can roll back to a previous build from this link - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...or+Past+Builds

    Export Your Notes - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/images/notes-02.jpg

Export Your Bonuses and Rakeback - Options > Rakeback & Bonuses - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/images/...bonuses-01.jpg

Export any tourney summaries by selecting all your tournaments in the Data View Sub-Tab of the Tourney > Results Menu and choose Export Tourney Results and summaries

    http://faq.holdemmanager.com/images/...ta-view-01.jpg

Make sure you export any custom HUD layouts to your \Config folder and copy it for a backup. http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...ort+HUD+Layout

    and finally:

Export your hands and then open the new database and import them into that - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...6+Export+Hands

Once the Hands are imported you can import the Tourney Results and Bonuses/Rakeback

I am having this exact same problem.

I have been running HEM1 w/ no problems for roughly 6 months now, but when I restarted my computer today it said my software was unregistered (this has happened multiple times before, but was usually resolved after several restarts, or contacting your support team). After multiple restarts I tried redownloading the HEM1 latest release (even though I was already up to date). At this point, it recognized my software as registered, but said it needed to change the db structure like the OP above. I then have the exact same problem as the OP where the process will time out and crash the program.

With the WCOOP barely a week old, this is literally the worst time of year for this to happen. I have worked extremely hard to have my database and HUD set-up exactly how I want it, and I do not want to switch over to HEM2 (it is not nearly as good for tournaments). I really just want things to return to the way they were yesterday. I am not satisfied with the reply that has been given because it jumps right to starting a new database, which seems laborious and unnecessary. Everything was working yesterday and then nothing changed. How can I get things working again without creating a whole new database (which might not even resemble my old one)?

For now you can downgrade to 1.12.09 again: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...or+Past+Builds

And you can try to run a vacuum full and a reindex on your current database before you try the update again:

And please make sure to have enough free space on your HDD
