Stats get "broken"

Hi,

I've had this problem multiple times already over the years with quite a few different custom stats:

I keep using the same stat for months without any problems.
After a while however, the stat stops working. It just shows "-" instead of a number (like there's no sample).
When I notice this, I after a while just create another stat that's identical to the "broken" one (I just copy everything), and replace the old broken stat with the new one that works (even though they're identical).

It isn't a super big deal, I'd just like to know why this happens?
Is Note Caddy bugged a bit, or am I doing something wrong?

It's a tough question to give a good answer as there are so many things that can go wrong. How many hands are being played during these months? If it's a huge number I can see maybe some overflow happening somewhere. If the stats stay broken after a reset then that's interesting otherwise perplexing...
