Is there a way of finding out which version I am currently using?
Also 8.3 is 18gb on my computer but the huge files are located
8.3/data/base/25811 are this files needed or could/can I delete them?

Don't touch this folder - its the complete database. If you modify any file in this folder structure you will loose all your data.
