Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Also run a manual Windows Update and install ALL updates.
Including .net framework updates, and the latest service pack for Windows.

I use windows and only run spybot and adaware for security. I use the windows firewall and no other firewalls.

Uninstall Spybot Search & Destroy. And reboot.
Open your Windows/System32/drivers/etc/Hosts.ini file with notepad.

If Spybot added lots of lines to that file, delete the lines.
The hosts file should only read:

    HTML Code:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    #	127.0.0.1 localhost
    #	::1             localhost

Set exceptions to holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe to Windows Firewall.

Which Windows version do you have? Run a manual Windows Update and install ALL updates.
Including .net framework updates, and the latest service pack for Windows.
