HM can't get PostgreSQL to start

I'm using HM 1.06.04 rc 9 & PostgreSQL 8.3.5 - both of which I just updated today but the following problem already existed.

When I started HM this morning I got the "Failed to establish a connection ..." error and went through the connection procedure including having HM attempt to start the service but it didn't work.

Event Viewer is showing the following error whenever I try to start it up - 2008-11-27 07:04:09 EST FATAL: could not open directory "pg_tblspc": No such file or directory

I Googled that file/directory name but I can't really find anything helpful - or at least all of the information is too complex for me to understand

Any help would be appreciated.

i am having the same problem. i am using xp not vista and i think i did everything right from this faq thing

and then the follow up one that is mostly just for vista.

then i tried to uninstall both postgressql and holdem manager and reinstall them, and that didnt work either haaaaaaaalp plz

Just go to C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data and create a folder named "pg_tblspc" and everything should be fine

That hasn't helped unfortunately. I'm now getting different errors:

2008-11-27 14:08:52 EST FATAL: database files are incompatible with server
2008-11-27 14:08:52 EST DETAIL: The database cluster was initialized without HAVE_INT64_TIMESTAMP but the server was compiled with HAVE_INT64_TIMESTAMP.
2008-11-27 14:08:52 EST HINT: It looks like you need to recompile or initdb.

If by "recompile" it means re-install then I tried that and nothing changed.

I checked your faq and did everything.

I can't start HEM because postgres doesnt connect and i cant install it as well and if i try to reinstall it fails to complete. So i would really apreciate if you could help me with this problem because i can't find an answear on your site.

Do you have Postgresql installed and is the postgresql service running?

Are you using any firewall or other security software?
