Reformatting hard drive, reinstalling HM

I'm about to do a clean install upgrade to Windows 7. I saw the video about the backup and restore wizard and that looks easy enough. My only question is will my serial number still work without using up another one of my two installs?

You can't "use up" another one of your installs

You are basically doing a transfer of your licence to a new PC:

NOTES: When you buy ONE licence for HM it entitles you to run it on TWO machines at once
In theory you can have as many PC's as you like with HM installed, but at any one time you will only be able to run HM on the 2 PC's that you've registered with HM
HM registration calls the two machines PC#1 & PC#2

So I'm supposed to reset my license before reinstalling HM on the same computer?

Yeah thats it, clear your license code before you register it on the new PC and the same code will work fine
