    Default Steps Taken

I have gotten all the way up to the part where i am taking the backup file from my home computer to the server.
The issue that is occuring is when i go to pg_restore the backup that i sent to my server it loads for several minutes then states :
abort due to the header missing on file 1027.dat
This is where i am running into an issue trying to upload my current data into the new "holdemServer" database that i have created on the same software program postgres sql 8.4.
If you have any idea please forward them everything have been properly installed all .config files are updated for server.
Have attempted both backup via tar and compress.

Which operating system are the 2 computers running?

Did you use the same coding as the original database for the new one?
How did you copy the backup file from the old to the new computer?
Are you using Postgresql 8.4 on both computers?

    Default OS and such

Both db were loaded w/ 8.4 postgres, OS on server is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, and my main computer has windows vista 64 bit.
I send the file from my main computer to the server by a slash commmand for example \\196.168.1.110\dropbox.
i have linked the drop box from the server to share the file from any computer so that i can receive backup files and such and organize them properly.
Now i have installed postgres onto the F: drive of the server rather then the C: drive but that would not cause any issues would it?

If this helps as well the type of server i own is an:
    hp dl380 server g3

    Thanks for help guys,

If backup restore isnt getting your database there try creating a new database and importing the hand histories instead, it will take longer but it will work

Default I got over 80 gb of hand histories

Could you give me some tips on how to best expedite the process for hand history retrieval.
I know i should export hands and have a new folder for them so i get the full set of data relative to my old db.
I am looking at 2 hours time to restore my db to almost a week via the HH retrieval method.
Is there anyway i can make this smaller or to expedite the process i know the current HH probably would take almost a week to retrieve?

    Thanks Again,

    Nevertilt

Theres not much you can do to speed it up to be honest. Have you tried the backup and restore feature in HM?

Please install the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Backup & Restore

if thats the one you tried and got an error try this FAQ - Hold'em Manager Poker Tracking Software :: Backup & Restore Database

Otherwise i think the hh import export is best, maybe you could import the newest hands first and then a bit at a time after that so you dont have to wait until it finishes importing to use HM
