Default Failed to establish connection to 127.0.0.1

Okay, this morning I had some Internet-connection problems, don't know why.
I had a Windows update like 3 days ago. HM worked afterwards.

Know this morning I'm getting this "Failed to establish a connection to ‘127.0.0.1’" which I already had a few times. 6 hours ago it still worked. Now I reboot my PC. I installed the new 1.1 Version and rebooted a few times, still doesnt work. I tried to open without a Firewall. Now what happened in those 6 hours that HM stopped working.

    I read the FAQs.

Now I don't want to reinstall HM because I did it already 5 times and it's so annoying. I read about those Combo Installer which sounded quite simple and wayyy better than re-installing and I wanted to ask if database can be saved in some way. And in the FAQis written that it "may" be lost. In which case do I lose it?

The connection between HM and PostgreSQL has nothing to do with your internet connection.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

    First try to reboot.

    If no help, try this:

    Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

    Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...ender+Problems

Please try following these FAQs, step by step:

    1) http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...rt+PostgreSQL+
    2) reinstall the same version of postgresql, using the same \data folder - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...g+Old+Database
    3) http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=8261

If that doesn't help you will probably have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely and reimport your hands using these instructions - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/showthread.php?t=20755

Now I reboot my PC. I installed the new 1.1 Version and rebooted a few times, still doesnt work.
Updating or reinstalling HM will not help in any way with the connection to your database server. The problem is between your computer (firewall/anti-virus) and postgresql, not HM.

I tried to open without a Firewall. Now what happened in those 6 hours that HM stopped working.

    I read the FAQs.

Now I don't want to reinstall HM because I did it already 5 times and it's so annoying. I read about those Combo Installer which sounded quite simple and wayyy better than re-installing
Once again, there is no need to ever reinstall HM for postgresql connection problems.

and I wanted to ask if database can be saved in some way
The steps I posted above are the best way to try and save your current database.

And in the FAQis written that it "may" be lost. In which case do I lose it?
If the database is damaged and unrecoverable you will have to create a new database and rebuild it by importing your original/archived hands. Your \HMArchive is likely not in your \Holdem Manager directory. We normally suggest you use C:\HMArchive, but you may have put it anywhere.

To verify the location: Options > Configure Auto Import Folders > Edit > Archive Folder: ___________________

    http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...Import+Folders

The archive should be organized by \Month\DayOfMonth (example: D:\HMArchive\2009\07\31).

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...elete+Database
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...6+Export+Hands
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB.
*Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=20754

If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney summaries.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

    If no help, try this:

    Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it.
That helped. I'll remember that for the future. Thanks.

    Btw 1.10 looks cool.
