I've read in some other thread that buying new licenses for HM1 is no longer available anymore...
Is it possible to buy an upgrade? (from small to pro version, I guess they're different)

I want to upgrade Hm1 small stakes to hm1 pro version, is it possible ?
No. But if you upgrade to HM2 Pro, you can still receive a HM1 Pro serial from sales@holdemmanager.com
