Exclamation pg_ctl.exe freezing at start up, postgres refusing to run.

I was cleaning my pc yesterday and during it I turned it off without shutting down and now postgres won't work. HEM 1 has been working fine on this pc for over a year.

When I start up, pg_ctl.exe freezes up my entire computer, no other programs will work until I go into task manager and end process pg_ctl.exe. Then everything works.

manually starting the service doesn't work either.

I tried uninstalling postgres then reinstalling, didn't work either.

Looks to me as if something has gotten corrupted, but I don't know how to safely fix it or backup my database.

    Help

    Default

Hmm appears I fixed it, not entirely sure how.

IT was either deleting postmaster.pid and .opt or fiddling with file permissions. Weird. Still problem solved.
