    Default Pokerstars colour codes disappeared

    Hi,

First of all, sorry for posting this here as it has nothing to do with HM, but with Pokerstars, though i'm hoping someone could help me out...

I had to reboot my computer (because my HM hud froze :-) ), when I restarted Pokerstars, all my colour notes were gone. Also my colour coding system was deleted.
All the other setups in Pokerstars were untouched.

I tried to solve it using system recovery, but that didnt help.
Also I tried to import my notes file but that didn't work either.

Anyone who can help me out please?

    Thanks!

Your PokerStars Notes & PokerStars Colour coding should be in a file called "notes.YOUR POKERSTARS SCREEN NAME.xml"

That .xml file should be in this folder: C:\Users\YOUR COMPUTER USER NAME\AppData\Local\PokerStars.UK
[it will not say "UK" if you aren't in the UK]

If you can't find that file where I said then search for it in Windows search & also look in your Recycle Bin

    Have you found it?

Sure, I've allready tried to re-import them before starting this tread, but for some reason, it doesn't work. After clicking on the 'import notes' button and open the file, nothing happens.

What do you mean "nothing happens"?
Do you mean there is no new notes .xml file in the correct location after import?

If that is what you mean...
PokerStars > Settings > Gameplay > Player Notes
[1] Make sure the 5 boxes are checked
[2] Make sure you have a path set up in "WHERE TO SAVE NOTES"
For example my path is C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\PokerStars.UK\
When you have set up the path click "Apply Changes"

Try to import the .xml file again
If that doesn't work [you see no colour coding in the PokerStars lobby etc]
Then make a note on a player & see if a new notes .xml file is created
If it is then you should be able to import your old .xml file unless it is corrupted in some way

To check if it is corrupted...
    CLOSE PokerStars
Open your old .xml notes file in notepad++ [a free program you can google for] & you should be able to read it
If you can read it then copy/paste the information it contains into the new .xml notes file you made when you created a note
Then OPEN PokerStars & see if you have colour coded players in the lobby

    Thanks for the help,

Kinda stupid that I didn't figure this out myself, but the notes file was corrupt, it was completely empty... No idea how this can happen just by rebooting during a session though...
I assume this file isn't in the backup folder, or is there any other way to recover this?

    grtz

In my Windows 7 I can restore previous versions of any folder!

    [1] Close PokerStars [important]
[2] Restore your C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\PokerStars.UK\ folder [without the "UK" bit I suppose] using the oldest copy you find using this method: The Automatic Windows 7 File Backup That You Didn
[3] Take the notes .xml out of restored folder & put it somewhere else
[4] Open the new .xml and make sure it has your notes/colours

If it does you are in luck!

[5] Open PokerStars - It will probably try to update your PS software now because of the restored old date folder - Let PokerStars update [it may not try to]
[6] Import that xml you took from the restored folder
