    Default DB on External HDD, w USB , speed drop ?

    Hi,

    If i put my DB on an external HDD, with usb 2.0.
    How much of a speeddrop in the performance of HM2 can i expect ?

    The performance speed of -where the database is located- relies on two main factors:
    -1 the 4k read speed of the (external) HDD.
    -2 the sequential read speeds. (this speed normally is not very important, but if the USB 2.0 external HDD has a drastically low sequential read speed it will also become an issue).


    To test this: download and run CrystalDiskMark on both your current HDD and the external HDD.

    If you use usb 3.0 it should be around the same performance as using an internal HDD ??

    I don't think anyone could really say without actually testing it with the same make/speed internal and external drive.
