Is my HUD showing the correct data? Confusion between book, this site and Manager

Hey all
I have been playing poker on off for 4 years. A good player (TAG), but not good enough to more than just break even. No I've decided to get better and use Hold'em Manager and read the books

- Harrington on Online Cash Games; 6-Max No-Limit Hold 'em

I want to use Harringtons suggestion for HUD.

But now Im confused between what Harrington calls the stats, what your own FAQ calls the stats and what Holden Manager calls the stats.

Here are some of the confusing stats:

Big Bets/100 hands
Harrington have a stat he call "Big Bets/100 hand". In your FAQ there is no Big Bets/100 but there are "Win Rate Win Rate Measured in bb/100 (i.e Big Blinds)". I've found "Win Rate" in HM. Is this the correct stat?

TOT VPIP/TOT PFR
I now of cause what VPIP and PFR are. But what do HM mean when it says TOT? Why not just VPIP and PFR?

TOT Steal
Harrington calls this stat "attempt to steal" (the villains attempts to steal). I guess this is what HM call TOT Steal. Again Im confused. Why TOT Steal and not just steal?

BB Fold to Steal
Harrington calls this "Fold Big Blind to Steal". I guess that that is the same as BB Fold to Steal. But why is there now no TOT before this stat? Wrong stat?

This is the medium sized HUD for Harrington. Later I will use his big HUD and there I will proberly ask some more questions about stats names.

"Big Bets" (BB/100) is an old term that nobody uses anymore. It was used in Fixed Limit poker (might still be used by Limit players)
1 "big bet" equals 2 big blinds.
Our default Winrate is in bb/100 (big blinds), but you can still add some Big Bet stats (BB/100, BB/hr, EV BB/100)
The same stats also exist in bb.

If you play No Limit Holdem, use bb stats (bb/100)

TOT VPIP/TOT PFR
I now of cause what VPIP and PFR are. But what do HM mean when it says TOT? Why not just VPIP and PFR?

We also have positional VPIP (and PFR stats)
So "overall VPIP" is called TOT VPIP
But we also have EP VPIP, SB VPIP, etc.

Whenever you see TOT (=TOTAL) the stat is for ALL positions combined.

Attempt to Steal is the same as TOT Steal. We renamed a lot of stats (HM1 vs HM2) to avoid confusion with other steal stats.

BB Fold to Steal
Harrington calls this "Fold Big Blind to Steal". I guess that that is the same as BB Fold to Steal. But why is there now no TOT before this stat? Wrong stat?

BB Fold to Steal is the same as "Fold Big Blind to Steal".
There is no "TOT" since it's already a positional (steal against a specific position) stat.


I analysed Harrington's HUD, since I didn't understand why he would use AT (for steal attempt)
when both HoldemManager (ST) and PokerTracker (AtS) use other abbreviations. I think he just made up his own abbreviations, making his HUD also generic to disguise which program (HoldemManager vs PokerTracker) he used.

Good advice by Harrington:
p96-501 is all about database software. Harrington writes:

-Add player name to your HUD. “Sometimes when a player exits a table and a new player immediately occupies his seat, you might not notice that the displayed HUD information describes the player who's no longer at the table.”

-He explains VP$IP, PFR, Aggression Factor, etc (and all other popular stats)

-He advocates to not add "Fold to Steal", but add "Fold Big Blind to Steal" to your HUD ("there's no point in keeping track of a players folding rate in the small blind")

-He explains how you can use Total Aggression Factor, but also have Flop Aggression, Turn Aggression and River Aggression as separate stats in your HUD.

-He teaches how you should make player notes. (30 pages on taking notes!)

-He argues you shouldn't play on a pokersite that is not supported by PokerTracker and Hold'em Manager: "Lack of database support is a dealbreaker. If your database manager doesn't support a site, go play somewhere else!".

-He talks about datamining: "once upon a time it was possible to log onto a site, open up the maximum number of tables, turn on PokerTracker or Hold'em Manager, and walk away. Banning datamining was undoubtedly a good long-run decision".

-He explains rakeback, multitabling, etc.

-He mostly writes how you should interpret the HUD data: p116, CONSTRUCTING YOUR HUD


Bad (or rather inaccurate advice) by Harrington:

-He talks about table selection, but completely ignores the fact there is special table selection software. (like TableScanner)

-He wants a player to tally how often an opponent limp-calls and/or limp-folds (and write the results in the player notes). He doesn’t realize you don’t have to tally that, but HoldemManager can display how often an opponent limp-calls and/or limp-folds in the HUD (or in a custom HUD popup)
